Todays assessments don’t effectively measure a leaders ability to build and lead effective teams:
👉 Mental ability Tests: How smart they are? What kind of bandwidth they have?
👉 Background: Resumes, LinkedIn profiles, work history and, education.
👉 Business Simulations: Fictitious meeting with a direct report
👉 Personality and Work Values: What makes them tick?
👉 360 Degree Feedback: To find out how others see them
These methods haven’t evolved much in the last 40-50 years. 🤔
Even newer techniques like Gamification still measure the same traits 💯
If the prediction for leadership effectiveness is:
Multiple R of about .5
It means that these methods account for only 25% of the variance. 😎
This leaves 75% unexplained and unaccounted for 😅
